DGM HQ A grey wet

09.27

DGM HQ.

A grey, wet day in the Chalke valley.

T has just called with news that 8 firemen worked for 24 hours until 11 last night, on the builder’s cottage in Higher Piddle. The firemen managed to save the adjoining houses in the street, but the pair of cottages have gone.

13.58    A morning of frustration & relative grief that always accompanies

developing a relationship with new equipment. Strangely, inexplicably, once we develop a relationship with equipment, it begins to work properly. There is more noise in the SV than usual, particularly in two specific programmes in the Eventide 3000s.

Noisy Beast…

The Tokai has a very high frequency whistle that comes in with the sustainer, so that’s staying behind. The Fernandes goldtop is the main guitar for the tour & the black Fernandes is coming as a spare. It doesn’t work as well as the goldtop, but I haven’t developed a relationship with it yet, so who knows?

14.04 And John believes he has figured out the source of our noise: a pile of computer & telephone lines on the other side of the wall of the studio to the Solar Voyager.

Later this afternoon: off to Penzance for tomorrow’s performance on behalf of Shallal…

22.34 Victorian B&B,  Penzance

A slow, dark & wet journey from DGM HQ; Alex & John travelled separately. A&J are now in the adjacent room with Happy Gigsters’ Equipment Van parked directly in front of our rooms. We are houseguests here, just at the edge of the town centre, courtesy of an hotelier whose son is involved with Shallal.

Fabbo to be in Penzance again.
